Only the Integrated packages connect to Interactive Brokers, CQG, Rithmic or the Denali feed.

$145 an exchange otherwise

Professionals and users without a trading account pay the professional CME rate for real time.

HOW IT WORKS - 4 STEPS

From a sentence to a stamped verdict

01

Decide whether you need a connection

If you will trade through a broker or want real-time futures data, skip the Base packages and start at Package 10.

02

Check which exchange rate applies to you

With a live funded futures account you pay $2 to $40.50 for CME data. Without one, or as a professional, it is $145 an exchange.

03

Pay one month before you pay twelve

Refunds only come in whole 31-day blocks and never on exchange fees, so confirm the setup works with your broker first.

04

Test the stock rule separately

If part of what you want is to check a stock or ETF rule over many years, type it into our trading strategy tester and compare it with buy and hold.

On the same bench

Sierra Chart publishes its prices in its documentation instead of on a marketing page, which is why most pricing roundups quote them second hand. We read four of those documents on October 7, 2026: Description of Service Packages and Pricing (last modified September 8, 2026), Denali Exchange Data Feed, What Is Included in the Free Trial, and Purchase and License Information. Every figure below is quoted from them unless we say we computed it.

Service package1 month12 months, per month12 months, totalConnects to a broker or Denali?
Package 3, Base Standard$26$16.90$202.80No
Package 5, Base with Advanced Features$36$23.40$280.80No
Package 10, Integrated Standard$36$23.40$280.80Yes
Package 11, Integrated with Advanced Features$46$29.90$358.80Yes
Package 12, Advanced Features and Market by Order$56$36.40$436.80Yes

The discount table is Sierra Chart's own: 15% for 3 months, 25% for 6 months and 35% for 12 months. Sierra Chart adds that "all pricing is subject to small price changes over time without notice".

Which Sierra Chart package do you need?

The split that matters is Base against Integrated. Sierra Chart states that the Base packages "do not support connections to external provided Data or Trading services", so they "will not connect to Interactive Brokers, CQG or Rithmic", and they do not support the Denali Exchange Data Feed either. If you trade through a broker or want real-time futures data, you need Package 10, 11 or 12. Package 5 and Package 10 cost the same $36, and they are different products: 5 adds the advanced studies to a platform that cannot connect out, 10 connects out without them.

The Advanced Features are the order flow studies: TPO Chart Study, Numbers Bars, Numbers Bars Calculated Values and Market Depth Historical Graph. Package 12 adds Market by Order data. A trader who reads footprint charts and market profile wants Package 11. A trader who only needs charts, studies and order entry is covered by Package 10.

What Sierra Chart costs with real-time data

Sierra Chart says the Denali feed has "2 components to the cost": the Integrated package and the exchange fees. The fee you pay turns on one condition. The cheaper non-professional CME Group rates "require a verified funded trading account with a supported trading service", and Sierra Chart has to connect to that account at least once a month. If you cannot meet that, the row that applies to you is "For professionals and users without a trading account".

Denali exchange optionNon-professional with a live funded accountProfessional, or no trading account
Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) with market depth$40.50 a month$145 a month per exchange
Full CME Group, top of book$6 a month$145 a month per exchange
One CME Group exchange, top of book$2 a month$145 a month
One CME Group exchange with market depth$13.50 a month$145 a month
US Equities Consolidated Tape$10 a month$100 a month
Nasdaq TotalView US stock data$17 a month$90 a month
EUREX EOBI$25 a month$130 a month

Put the two bills together and these are the setups people actually run. The totals are our arithmetic from Sierra Chart's listed prices.

SetupPer month, paid monthlyPer year, package paid for 12 months
Charts on delayed data, Package 3$26$202.80
Futures, Package 10 plus full CME Group top of book$42$352.80
Futures order flow, Package 11 plus full CME Group with depth$86.50$844.80
US stocks, Package 10 plus Consolidated Tape$46$400.80
Futures with no trading account, Package 10 plus CME only at the professional rate$181$2,020.80

The last row is the one that surprises people. Someone who wants Sierra Chart purely to study or test ES futures in real time, without opening a futures account, pays $145 a month for the CME alone, more than four times the package. The way around it is the Delayed Exchange Data Feed, which is included in every package and streams delayed futures and stock data with market depth. Exchange fees are also "billed in full each month no matter when they are activated", and Sierra Chart notes that the CME Group gives a free trial to the end of the month you activate in, so start an exchange on the first days of a month.

Sierra Chart free trial, refunds and what happens when you stop paying

A new account gets a free trial "for a period of 21 days" with full software functionality. Two limits apply during it: intraday charts load 10 days of data and daily charts 186 days, and external services such as Interactive Brokers, CQG and Rithmic are not supported until you pay. That means you cannot judge a long backtest or your own broker connection on the trial alone.

There is no card subscription to cancel. You add credit to a Services Balance and Sierra Chart deducts the package and exchange fees from it; when the balance runs out, the account drops into Free Mode, where you can still open charts and your existing data but cannot connect to external services or use the advanced features. Refunds are narrow: unused time comes back only "in whole month (31 day) increments", with a $5 processing fee, nothing under $10, and "refund requests for exchange fees will not be made". If you are unsure, pay one month at a time, because the 35% discount is not worth much on time you cannot get back in part.

Does Sierra Chart have backtesting?

Yes. Sierra Chart documents back testing of automated trading systems through its chart replay, and systems are built either as spreadsheet studies or in its C++ study interface. Its own documentation warns that there are "differences in the timing of each chart update" between a back test or replay and real-time trading, so results need checking at slow replay speed. This is a tool for intraday futures traders who are comfortable with spreadsheet formulas or C++. It runs on Windows, and Sierra Chart points Mac and Linux users to Wine or CrossOver.

If what you want to test is a stock or ETF rule on daily bars over 10 to 25 years, that is a different job, and you can type it in plain English into our trading strategy tester, which runs it on adjusted daily data with costs on every trade. For other futures platforms, our NinjaTrader alternative page and does NinjaTrader have backtesting cover the Strategy Analyzer, and TradeStation backtesting covers EasyLanguage. For desktop charting on stocks, compare MetaStock pricing and TC2000 pricing. Why the professional rate is so much higher than the non-professional one, and how 20 other vendors handle it, is laid out on non-professional subscriber.

QUESTIONS - ASKED AND ANSWERED

Sierra Chart pricing questions and answers

How much does Sierra Chart cost?

Sierra Chart costs $26 to $56 a month depending on the service package: $26 for Package 3, $36 for Package 5 or 10, $46 for Package 11 and $56 for Package 12. Paying for 12 months takes 35% off. Real-time exchange data is extra, from $2 to $40.50 a month for CME Group data on a non-professional funded account.

Is Sierra Chart free?

No, apart from a 21-day free trial on a new account. After the trial the account drops to Free Mode, which still opens charts and your existing data but cannot connect to external data or trading services.

Which Sierra Chart package do I need?

You need Package 10, 11 or 12 if you trade through a broker such as Interactive Brokers, CQG or Rithmic, or want the real-time Denali data feed. Choose Package 11 for TPO charts and Numbers Bars, and Package 12 for Market by Order data. Packages 3 and 5 only use Sierra Chart's own included data.

How much is Sierra Chart data?

Sierra Chart's Denali feed charges exchange fees on top of the package. For a non-professional with a live funded futures account, one CME Group exchange at top of book is $2 a month, the full CME Group is $6, and the full CME Group with market depth is $40.50. US stocks on the Consolidated Tape are $10 a month.

Can I use Sierra Chart without a broker?

Yes, for charting, replay and simulated trading on the included delayed data. Real-time CME data without a live funded trading account is charged at the rate for "professionals and users without a trading account", which is $145 a month per exchange, so most users without a broker stay on delayed data.

Does Sierra Chart have a lifetime license?

No. Sierra Chart states that a one-time purchase option "would never be offered", because the price covers ongoing market data services, order routing, support and software updates. The longest prepayment is 12 months, at a 35% discount.

Does Sierra Chart offer refunds?

Partly. Unused usage time is refunded only in whole 31-day increments, a $5 processing fee is deducted, amounts under $10 are not refunded, and exchange fees are never refunded. Sierra Chart may also deduct support costs. Paying month to month avoids most of the exposure.

Does Sierra Chart have backtesting?

Yes. Sierra Chart back tests automated trading systems through chart replay, with systems built as spreadsheet studies or in its C++ study interface. Its documentation notes timing differences between a back test and real-time trading, so results should be checked in a slow replay.

Does Sierra Chart work on a Mac?

Not natively. Sierra Chart lists Windows as its operating system requirement and directs Mac and Linux users to run it through Wine or CrossOver, with extra network settings that it describes as mandatory under Linux and Wine.
