Premium is the product most people mean when they say Seeking Alpha. You get the full article library, earnings call transcripts, Quant Ratings and factor grades, screeners and the Ask Seeking Alpha assistant. The plans FAQ also lists ten years of downloadable financial statements. For a reader, $299 a year is about $25 a month, which is fair for the volume of material.

A high-volume investor who wants ideas delivered daily and acts on them
PRO adds the PRO Quant Portfolio with "new high-conviction ideas every week", daily Quant upgrades and downgrades, Top Analyst Ideas filtered by success rate, short ideas, and ratings on stocks few analysts cover. It is built for people who trade on idea flow. If you research slowly and hold for years, Premium carries almost everything you will use.
Alpha Picks
Someone who wants two picks a month and does not want to run a screener
Alpha Picks selects stocks that have held a Quant Strong Buy rating, and Seeking Alpha describes the method as "based on rigorous backtesting". It sits beside Premium rather than inside it. Resellers list a Premium plus Alpha Picks bundle at $639 for the first year, renewing at standard rates.

The renewal price, not the teaser
Premium opens at $4.95 and renews at $299 a year. PRO opens at $99 and renews at $2,400. Both renewal lines are printed on the plans page under the intro price, and that is the figure to budget.
No refunds once the paid term starts
The terms say fees are nonrefundable unless stated in writing, and that once the paid subscription begins there are no refunds for initial orders or renewals. The intro month is your decision window.
Older members renew at the new rate
Seeking Alpha told existing members their next renewal would be at $299 a year. A member who joined on an older price should expect the list price at renewal.
One account, one person
The terms allow a single account and bar sharing a login. Teams of 10 or more can buy group rates. A two-person practice pays for two seats.
PRO is sold to professionals, licensed for personal use
PRO is described as for "the professional investing community", while the terms license content for "personal, non-commercial use". Worth a written answer before client use.
The long-run Quant return includes a cost-free backtest
The terms describe 2009 to 2020 as a hypothetical backtest and to 2021 as simulated trades, equally weighted, rebalanced daily, with zero transaction costs.

Decide whether you read or act
If you read analysis and make your own calls, Premium at $299 a year covers it. If you want a weekly model portfolio and daily rating changes, you are the PRO buyer at $2,400. Most individual investors are Premium buyers.
Use the intro month on the features you will pay for
Open the screeners, the Quant grades on your own holdings and the transcripts for your next earnings season. If you do not use them in the first month, you will not use them in the year.
Diarize the renewal before you pay
Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you subscribe. Cancel in Subscription Settings or by email at least a day before the intro month or any guarantee window ends.
Buy one seat per person
The terms do not allow shared logins. For a team of 10 or more, ask for group rates rather than buying individual PRO seats.
Test the rule before you trade it

PRO costs eight times Premium. The difference is not more data; it is more ideas delivered faster: a weekly rebalanced model portfolio, daily rating changes and the analyst leaderboard. If you read Premium and still make your own decisions, you are unlikely to use what the extra $2,101 a year buys.
The intro month is the trial, and it converts to a year
The $4.95 month is not a monthly plan. It is a paid first month that rolls into a $299 annual charge. Seeking Alpha's terms say that once the initial paid subscription starts, "we do not provide refunds for initial orders or recurring payments", and that where a product offers a limited 30-day money-back guarantee you must cancel "no later than one (1) day before" it ends. Cancel in Subscription Settings or by email to [email protected] before the intro month ends if you do not want the year.
Existing members renew at the new price
Seeking Alpha published a notice to existing members: "Starting with your next renewal, the price of Premium will increase. On your next renewal date, your subscription will renew automatically at $299/year." The terms also reserve the right "to revise Subscription fees upon reasonable notice". A long-time member on an older rate should expect the renewal to land at the list price.
The headline return is a backtest with no trading costs
The Premium page leads with the Quant "Strong Buy" return: 168.99% against 48.54% for the S&P 500 on the default chart when we read it. The year-by-year table starts in 2021, and compounding its six columns gives roughly 163%, so the recent record is not in doubt. The long "since inception" figure is different. Section 22 of the terms says the return from December 31, 2009 to July 17, 2020 is "a backtested hypothetical portfolio", that July 2020 to March 2021 "reflects simulated trades", and that the portfolio was "equally weighted, inclusive of paid dividends, rebalanced daily, with zero transaction costs". Rebalancing every stock on a list every day with no costs is something no subscriber can do. Treat the ratings as a research input, and test any rule you build from them with costs before trusting it.
