WealthLab pricing for the Monthly, Annual, Premium and Lifetime plans
WealthLab sells three subscriptions and a lifetime license, and its home page shows only the subscriptions. The cheapest way to own it depends on how many years you will keep using it and how many of its 28 paid extensions you need, so we did the arithmetic for both.

|---|---|---|---|
| How much is the monthly plan? | "$49.95 / month" | Plans page and home page | $599.40 over 12 months (our arithmetic). |

On the same bench
WealthLab, the backtesting platform made by Quantacula, LLC, prints three subscription prices on its home page and a fourth option, the Lifetime License, only on its separate plans page. We read the home page, the plans page, the Extensions catalog, the FAQ and the WealthLab 9 release notes on October 13, 2026. Every figure below is quoted from those pages unless we say the arithmetic is ours.
| Plan | Price | Over 12 months | WealthLab extensions | Updates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly Plan | $49.95 a month | $599.40 | Bought one by one | While subscribed |
| Annual Plan | $399.95 a year | $399.95 | Bought one by one | While subscribed |
| Premium Annual Plan | $499.95 a year | $499.95 | All 28 included | While subscribed |
| Lifetime License | $1,595 once | $1,595 in year one | Same benefits as Premium | Two years, then $149.95 a year |
The 12-month figure for the Monthly Plan is our arithmetic, twelve times $49.95. WealthLab describes the Annual Plan as "a nearly 40% savings off the Monthly Plan". Against twelve monthly payments of $49.95 the saving is $199.45, which is 33%. It is still the better buy for anyone who will use the software for more than eight months, just not by as much as the label says.
Which WealthLab plan do you need?
Annual, unless you need three or more of WealthLab's own extensions, in which case Premium. The base platform already includes the backtester, Building Blocks for strategies without code, the C# editor, historical data and charting, so many people never buy an extension. The extensions are where the broker connections, Monte Carlo analysis and deep learning live.
The Extensions catalog lists 28 add-ons marked "included in Premium Plan". Bought individually they are priced at $19.95, $49.95 or $99.95, and the 28 list prices add up to $1,448.60 by our count. Premium costs exactly $100 a year more than Annual, so the question is how many you need.
| WealthLab extension | Price on its own | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Interactive Brokers, Schwab, TradeStation, Alpaca, Tradier | $49.95 each | A broker connection for placing orders from WealthLab |
| Monte Carlo-Lab | $49.95 | Randomized simulations of a finished backtest |
| Power Pack | $49.95 | Position sizers, indicators, ScoreCards and visualizers |
| Fundamental Extensions, Data Extensions | $49.95 each | Extra fundamental, historical and sentiment data providers |
| Deep Learning, Chart Patterns, Candlestick Genetic Evolver, Indicator Profiler | $99.95 each | Machine learning models, pattern tools and indicator analysis |
Two $49.95 extensions cost $99.90, a dime less than the Premium upgrade. A third makes Premium the cheaper first year. The catalog labels these as BUY, while some third-party add-ons on the same page are marked ANNUAL, which suggests a WealthLab extension is a one-time purchase. If so, the gap reverses later: Annual plus three $49.95 extensions is $549.80 in year one and $399.95 after that, so it overtakes Premium during year two. Confirm how an extension is billed before you count on that.
WealthLab lifetime license vs subscription
The Lifetime License is $1,595 and, in WealthLab's words, lets you "use your WealthLab version indefinitely" with "all the same benefits as the Premium subscription" and "two years of free maintenance updates". After that, a Maintenance Extension buys "an additional one year of maintenance updates" for $149.95. Stop paying for maintenance and the version you have keeps working; you just stop getting new builds.
| Years of use | Premium Annual, cumulative | Lifetime, keeping updates | Lifetime, no updates after year 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $499.95 | $1,595.00 | $1,595.00 |
| 2 | $999.90 | $1,595.00 | $1,595.00 |
| 3 | $1,499.85 | $1,744.95 | $1,595.00 |
| 4 | $1,999.80 | $1,894.90 | $1,595.00 |
| 5 | $2,499.75 | $2,044.85 | $1,595.00 |
Against Premium, the Lifetime License pays off in year four either way. Against the plain Annual Plan it takes longer: four years of Annual cost $1,599.80, almost exactly the lifetime price, and if you keep buying maintenance the lifetime license only pulls ahead in year six. So the lifetime license is a bet that you will still be running WealthLab in four to six years. Given that there are no refunds, try it before making that bet.
WealthLab free trial, refunds and licensing terms
- Trial: the home page offers a free trial with "No Credit Card required". Its length is not stated on the plans page. Extensions have their own "14-day free trial before purchasing them individually".
- Refunds: none. Cancelling a monthly plan stops future charges and "you will not receive a refund". For annual plans, "you will not receive a refund, prorated or otherwise, for the remainder of the annual term."
- Computers: the FAQ says "you can use your subscription on 2 computers."
- Upgrades: moving from Monthly or Annual to Premium gives "a prorated credit for your current subscription."
- Platform: the FAQ calls WealthLab 8 "a modern platform built for Windows 10/11". It is installed software, not a web app.
- Availability: the plans page says "WealthLab is available again worldwide, including U.S. and Canada", after the Fidelity-branded Wealth-Lab Pro was discontinued in 2021.
Is the Claude AI feature included in the price?
Not the AI itself. WealthLab 9, released in August 2026, ships a built-in MCP server and what its release notes call "seamless integration with Claude", which can create strategies, run backtests and analyze trades in your installation. On WealthLab's own forum the developer explains that "you must actively connect an external AI such as Claude to WealthLab". The connector is part of the software; the assistant on the other end is your own account with your own bill. Budget for both if the plain-English workflow is why you are buying.
What WealthLab does better than most backtesters
It is worth being plain about where WealthLab is strong, because these are the reasons to pay for it. Its Wealth-Data index DataSets include companies that later left the index, so a Nasdaq 100 backtest runs on "almost 300 symbols and not 100", which removes the survivorship bias most retail tools quietly carry. It simulates whole portfolios rather than one symbol at a time, has walk-forward optimization built in, imports data from almost any exchange and can trade through a broker connection. A Norgate Data extension is free to install but reads from "your Norgate Data subscription", which is billed separately by Norgate.
The cost is time. You build strategies from Building Blocks or in C#, on a Windows machine, and you own the data setup. If what you want is an answer to "has this rule worked on this stock or ETF" without installing anything, that is a different job. Type the rule in plain English into our trading strategy tester in the browser and it runs on split- and dividend-adjusted daily data with costs on every trade, then gives a plain verdict against buy and hold. If you want automated execution, our guide to automated trading platforms compares the tools that place orders, and the AmiBroker alternative covers the other long-standing Windows backtester. For strategy generators that search thousands of rule combinations for you, our Build Alpha review prices Build Alpha and StrategyQuant X.
QUESTIONS - ASKED AND ANSWERED
WealthLab pricing questions and answers
How much does WealthLab cost?
WealthLab costs $49.95 a month, $399.95 a year on the Annual Plan or $499.95 a year on the Premium Annual Plan, which includes every extension WealthLab develops. A Lifetime License is $1,595 once with two years of updates, and further updates cost $149.95 a year. Prices are in US dollars.
Is WealthLab free?
No. WealthLab offers a free trial with no credit card required, but every way of keeping it is paid, from $49.95 a month. The market data it ships with from several providers costs nothing extra, while outside data such as a Norgate Data subscription is billed by that provider.
What is the difference between WealthLab Annual and Premium?
Premium includes all 28 extensions WealthLab builds, such as the Interactive Brokers, Schwab and TradeStation connections, Monte Carlo-Lab and Deep Learning. Annual includes the core platform only, and you buy extensions at $19.95 to $99.95 each. Premium costs $100 a year more, so it pays once you need three $49.95 extensions.
Is the WealthLab lifetime license worth it?
Only if you will use WealthLab for at least four years. The $1,595 license matches Premium in benefits and includes two years of updates. By our arithmetic it becomes cheaper than Premium in year four, and cheaper than the plain Annual Plan in year four without updates or year six with them.
Does WealthLab offer refunds?
No. The refund policy says a cancelled monthly plan runs to the end of the month with no refund, and an annual plan gets no refund, "prorated or otherwise", for the rest of the year. Use the free trial to decide before you pay.
Does WealthLab work on a Mac?
WealthLab is a Windows desktop application; its FAQ describes it as built for Windows 10/11. On a Mac you need a Windows virtual machine or a separate Windows computer. A subscription can be used on two computers.
Does WealthLab include AI?
WealthLab 9 includes a Strategy Generator and a built-in MCP server that lets Claude create strategies and run backtests in your installation. The AI is not bundled: WealthLab says you must actively connect an external AI such as Claude, so that assistant is a separate account and bill.
Is WealthLab still available in the US?
Yes. Fidelity discontinued the Fidelity-branded Wealth-Lab Pro in 2021. WealthLab is now sold directly by Quantacula, and its plans page states that it "is available again worldwide, including U.S. and Canada."
What is a cheaper alternative to WealthLab for stocks?
If you test rules on US stocks and ETFs with daily bars and do not need coding, a portfolio simulator or broker connection, AgentTrading Starter is $49 a month or $288 a year and runs in the browser from a plain-English rule. WealthLab is the stronger tool for portfolio-level, intraday and automated strategies.
