TrendSpider is worth it for a US technical trader who will build, backtest and automate chart-based rules on intraday bars, and who will actually use the scanner, the alerts and the bots it bundles. It is poor value if you mainly want charts (TradingView does that for less), if you trade on daily bars and only need a backtest, or if you want a refund after the fact, because the refund window is 72 hours and trial fees are never returned.
We read TrendSpider's pricing page, its refund and cancellation policy, its Terms of Service and its Strategy Tester and trading bot help articles on October 2, 2026. Figures below come from those pages unless we name another source. Every tier, trial fee and add-on is broken down on our TrendSpider pricing page.

Is TrendSpider worth it?
TrendSpider is worth paying for if you will turn chart setups into explicit rules and run them as scans, alerts or bots every week. At roughly $54 to $122 a month on yearly billing for the three lower tiers, it replaces a charting subscription, a scanner and a no-code backtester in one login. It is not worth it if you only chart, because every plan carries the same tools and you would be paying for automation you never switch on.
The useful way to judge it is to ask which limit you will hit first. TrendSpider sells the same features on every tier and rations usage: backtest depth, the lowest timeframe you can test and scan on, live bots and alerts. So the plan question is not "which features do I need" but "how fine are my bars and how many rules will I run at once".
| If you are | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A swing trader on daily or 2-hour bars | Standard | 2-hour is the lowest backtest and scan timeframe on Standard, which is enough for swing rules, and 5 bots and 10 alerts cover a small watchlist |
| A day trader testing 5-minute setups | Premium | Premium is the first tier that backtests and scans on 5-minute bars, with 10,000 candles of depth |
| Someone running many bots or 1-minute rules | Enhanced | 1-minute testing, 20,000 candles, 50 live bots and 100 alerts |
| A small desk testing across hundreds of symbols | Advanced | 30,000 candles, 510 symbols per test, 100 bots and 400 alerts |
| A long-term investor on daily bars who only wants a backtest | Probably not TrendSpider | You would pay for intraday tooling you never use |
How much does TrendSpider cost?
TrendSpider's list prices run $54, $91, $122 and $214 a month on yearly billing and $89, $149, $199 and $349 a month on monthly billing, for Standard, Premium, Enhanced and Advanced. The pricing page also offers quarterly billing, and new customers see a discount on the first invoice only. The 14-day trial is paid: $19, $29, $39 or $49.
Three things about that bill are easy to miss. First, the pricing page opens on its prepay view with a promotional first invoice (Standard showed $52.38 a month when we read it), and the promo terms say "Discount applies to the first invoice only" and "All sales of promotional plans are final and non-refundable." Your second year is at list price. Second, the trial view and the prepay view print different numbers for the same plan, so do not mix figures from the two when you compare. Third, three add-ons sit outside the plan: "Upgraded backtest depth to 20,000 for Premium and Standard Plans: $39/month", real-time futures data at $7.50 a month for non-professionals, and OPRA options data at $9.50 a month. The full table, including how each trial converts, is on our TrendSpider pricing page.
Is TrendSpider good for backtesting?
TrendSpider is good for backtesting technical rules without code: you build a strategy with natural language or point-and-click menus, test it on up to 510 symbols at once, and deploy it as a bot. Its weak spots are depth on the cheaper plans, no options or index backtests, and a default test that assumes zero fees and zero slippage.
The depth limit is the one that bites. TrendSpider caps a backtest by number of candles, not by years. Its own help article explains that 7,000 one-minute candles cover about five days, while 7,000 daily candles reach back about 39.5 years. On Standard the cap is 2,000 candles, which is about eight years of daily bars by our arithmetic at 252 trading days a year, and far less on 2-hour bars. The same help article says "10,000 candles are the maximum depth by default", which does not match the per-plan figures on the pricing page, so check the cap in the product before you rely on a long test.
Two lines in TrendSpider's Strategy Tester documentation matter more than any feature list. "You can not backtest indices or options data." And the default test "assumes $0 broker fees" and "perfect execution and zero slippage". You can set trade costs in the strategy settings, and you should, because a rule that trades often can lose its whole edge to costs. If your idea is a covered call or any options structure, TrendSpider cannot test it; our covered call backtest does.
Can TrendSpider trade automatically?
Yes, with a bridge. Strategy bots fire on timeframes from 5 minutes to daily, not on extended-hours candles, and TrendSpider does not place orders with your broker itself. Orders go out by webhook to a service such as SignalStack, TradersPost or Alertatron, which sends them to one of the 30+ supported brokerages and exchanges. Every plan includes 5 free automated orders a month through SignalStack.
That bridge is the part that fails quietly. If the webhook receiver is down or rejects a message, the bot keeps signaling and nothing reaches the broker, and the first you hear of it is a position you expected to hold and do not. Anyone running bots this way should monitor the webhook endpoint for downtime the same way a business monitors its checkout page. The cost of each execution route is compared on our automated trading platform page.
Is TrendSpider Sidekick worth it?
Sidekick is worth it only if you will use the AI to write and test strategies most days. Every plan includes 25 messages a month. Beyond that Sidekick is its own subscription: $49 a month for 100 messages, $129 for 300 and $349 for 1,000. So TrendSpider Standard plus 300 Sidekick messages costs about $183 a month on yearly billing, not $54.
One detail on the pricing page is worth knowing before you budget: the plan boxes and the Sidekick section say 25 included messages, while one tooltip in the feature table says 10. Plan on the lower figure until the product shows you otherwise.
Can financial advisors and professionals use TrendSpider?
Yes, and TrendSpider is the clearest vendor in the category on this. It does not close tiers to professionals or limit the licence to personal use. It passes the exchange fee through as a line item: "US Equities for FINRA/SEC Pros: $29/month", which the FAQ calls a NASDAQ exchange fee. A registered professional adds $348 a year to whichever plan they buy. We compare how eighteen vendors handle this on our non-professional subscriber page, and TrendSpider is the only one that prints the professional premium as a price.
Can I get a refund from TrendSpider?
Rarely. TrendSpider's policy says "Trial fees are never refundable" and that renewal fees "can be refunded only if requested within 72 hours of the charge and after cancellation of the plan". After 72 hours all renewal fees are non-refundable, and cancelling online "does not automatically issue a refund". A prepaid plan cancelled inside 72 hours is refunded minus the cost of a trial fee.
The renewal mechanics deserve a calendar entry. TrendSpider sends "an automated reminder approximately 3 to 7 days before your trial renews", and says "This will be the only reminder before you are charged." Plans renew "to the hour". Cancelling a trial cuts access immediately, while a paid plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. The Terms of Service also allow interest of 2.0% a month on unpaid balances and give 30 days' notice of price changes.
TrendSpider vs the alternatives on price
| Tool | What it does best | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TrendSpider | No-code technical backtests, scans and bots in one login | $54 to $349 a month | An active technical trader who will automate |
| TradingView | Charts, community scripts and alerts | Free plan; Premium $59.95 and Ultimate $199.95 a month on monthly billing; strategies need Pine Script | Someone who mainly charts |
| Trade Ideas | Real-time scanning with an AI idea engine | $127 to $254 a month, or $89 to $178 billed annually | A day trader hunting intraday momentum |
| Tickeron | Pattern recognition and AI robots with simulated track records | $90 or $145 a month for the robot bundles | Someone who wants to follow signals, not build them |
| AgentTrading | Plain-English rule tested on 20+ years of adjusted daily data with costs charged | $49 a month, or $288 a year | An investor or swing trader on daily bars who wants a verdict |
If charting is most of what you do, our best TradingView plan for backtesting shows how far each TradingView tier gets you before Pine Script. If you want signals someone else built, the trial and refund terms on our Tickeron pricing page are much stricter than TrendSpider's. The tool-by-tool comparison is on our TrendSpider alternative page.
What TrendSpider does not do
TrendSpider does not test fundamentals, options or index rules, and its cheaper plans do not go deep in history. If your idea is "buy the S&P 500 names with rising earnings and a pullback to the 50-day average, hold 60 days", the earnings half has no place to live in its Strategy Tester, and on Standard the price half is limited to about eight years of daily bars.
That is the job our trading strategy tester does. You type the rule in plain English, the bench shows you the rule it extracted, and it runs on 20+ years of split- and dividend-adjusted daily data with 0.1% charged on every trade by default. It reports every trade, the maximum drawdown and a plain verdict against holding the index over the same dates. Starter is $49 a month, or $288 a year. We work on daily bars only and do not chart, scan or trade, so the two fit together: test the idea's long history with us, then build the intraday version in TrendSpider if it holds up.
Our verdict
TrendSpider is a capable, honestly licensed platform with real no-code backtesting and the most transparent professional pricing in the category. Buy it if you trade technical setups intraday and will automate them; pick the tier by the lowest timeframe you test on, and set trade costs before you trust any result. Avoid the promotional prepay unless you are sure, because promo plans are final and the refund window on everything else is 72 hours. If you trade on daily bars and want to know whether an idea has held up over decades, test it first on a bench built for that.
